A Bit About Me
Welcome to my profile! I am Dr. K. V. Vamsi, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India.

A deep fascination with high-temperature structural alloys has driven my research journey. Specifically, my expertise lies in superalloys, a field that has been a central focus since my PhD studies. I have dedicated my career to unravelling the intricacies of these exceptional materials, exploring alloy design principles and deformation pathways crucial for high-temperature applications. In addition to my work on superalloys, I've also ventured into the exciting domain of Multi-Principal Element Alloys (MPEAs) during my Postdoctoral research. This exploration has broadened my perspective, allowing me to draw insights from diverse alloy systems and apply them to the challenges of high-temperature structural materials.

My academic journey began with a B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering in 2006. I continued to pursue higher studies at the esteemed Indian Institute of Science, earning an M.E. in Materials Engineering in 2009 and a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering in 2018.

Before entering academia, I gained invaluable industrial experience, which greatly informed my research perspective. I served as a Consultant at the ICME Group, TCS Research, Pune, India, from 2022 to 2023. Prior to that, I conducted Postdoctoral research at the University of California Santa Barbara, focusing on materials research in Superalloys, MPEAs and Refractory HEAs, understanding the deformation pathways and thermodynamics of these systems. My professional journey also includes roles as a Researcher at TATA Steel R&D, Jamshedpur, India, and as a Senior Engineer at Ispat Industries Ltd., India.

I am deeply passionate about both research and education. My work is driven by the pursuit of pushing the boundaries of our understanding of superalloys and high-temperature structural materials. Equally important to me is mentoring the next generation of materials scientists and engineers, preparing them to tackle the complex challenges of our ever-evolving field.
Please take the time to explore my profile further to learn more about my research, publications, and contributions to the field. If you have any questions or would like to connect, please feel free to reach out. I am excited to share my insights and knowledge with you.
